Activities Plus
- extra special activities -

Coolamatong has a range of 'specialised activities' that your group can enjoy as a part of your camping experience here.

Enjoy a ride across the Gippsland lakes with your group on Coolamatong's very own 51 person boat, or allow the staff at Coola to treat your campers to a fun filled night with the evening program, or a night hike through the bush. There are so many options for activities at Coolamatong, the question is, where to start!

Self-led Activities

There are also several self-led activities that you can engage in, as part of your camp. These activities are not run by Coolamatong staff, although they can be if required. Self-led activities allow you to enjoy yourselves at your own pace, running your group how you would like.

Self-led activities include:

Low Ropes - a 12 element low ropes course is an ideal activity for developing teamwork and cooperation as campers complete the various elements. The diverse nature of challenges require a range of fitness components including strength, balance, agility and coodination which means there is something for everyone.

Comprehensive leaders notes are available and a leader briefing is mandatory before groups are allowed on the course.

Initiative Course - Camp Coolamatong has an established course set-up in a designated paddock away from the camp site. The initiatives are a series of team challenges that combine problem solving with physical effort.

Comprehensive leaders notes are available and a leader briefing is mandatory before groups are allowed on the course.

Frisbee Golf - Coolamatong's very unique 18 hole Championship Frisbee golf course has been built on the hill overlooking the lake. From par 1 to par 7 holes it's more than just a question of accuracy. Score sheets, rules and frisbees are all provided.

Walks - from the nature trail through the bush at Coolamatong, to walks that take in the Banksia Peninsula, to walks that can be accessed within a short drive from the camp, Coolamatong provides a great base for many pleasurable walks, which range from short walks to a couple of hours. Many walking options in local Coastal National Parks can be scheduled within a half or full day boat trip.

Rogaining - Use maps to locate 12 orienteering markers strategically positioned over an area of approximately 10 acres.

A variety of activities in and around the immediate area of the campsite can also be accessed and provide entertainment for groups of all ages. These include:

Photo trail - two grades are available Treasure Hunt Orienteering - basic levels around the campsite

Camp Coolamatong also has some terrific Wide Game ideas with rules, and props available. These are great night activities that are played outside. With a short explanation from a Coolamatong leader any group would well be able to lead one of these games.
